Shanita Brown has a BA in Environmental Studies and Sociology from Ursinus College where she focused her studies on examining the lack of inclusion of environmental justice and race and equity issues in the mainstream environmental movement. Upon graduating from Ursinus College, Shanita worked for watershed organizations; Environmental Protection Agency's Chesapeake Bay Program Office, Earth Conservation Corps and Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. Through her work, she brought direct attention to the lack of cultural and racial diversity in the Bay restoration movement by creating meaningful opportunities for community, public health and social justice engagement.
As CEHN's program assistant, Shanita provides support for Eco-Healthy Child Care® and the Children's Environmental Health Movement in addition to social media management, communications and day to day operations.
A Philadelphia native, Shanita enjoys spending time with loved ones, vegan cooking and volunteering with community service groups.
