In Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Children’s Environmental Health Day – October 9, 2025

Children's Environmental Health Day 10th Anniversary

October 9, 2025 marks a decade of cross-sector work toward safer, healthier environments for children through Children’s Environmental Health Day (CEH Day). To celebrate and galvanize the movement, CEHN is hosting a nationwide campaign to build grassroots advocacy capacity, center community and youth stories, and uplift a unified, hopeful movement in the face of protective policy rollbacks, cuts to critical programs and workforce, and growing public health threats.

Child Health Champion Training Sessions

Join CEHN and partners for a virtual advocacy training session this summer!

These free 75-minute trainings are designed to help advocates across all sectors—public health, early childhood, education, environmental justice, caregiving, and youth—build power, tell our stories, and take meaningful action together. The same content will be offered at multiple sessions and all attendees will receive a certificate of completion.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Schedule and prepare for meetings with our elected officials
  • Use storytelling to shift hearts and minds
  • Frame children’s environmental health as a unifying, nonpartisan issue
  • Navigate potentially challenging spaces with integrity and clarity
  • Leverage political and media advocacy to push for positive change as a united movement for children’s environmental health

Trainers offering their expertise include youth speakers, policy leaders, storytellers, and community organizers:

  • Nsedu Witherspoon, MPH: Executive Director, Children’s Environmental Health Network
  • Haleemah Atobiloye, MA: Programs & Communications Strategist, Children’s Environmental Health Network
  • Rhea Goswami: Student; Founder and Executive Director, Environmental Justice Coalition
  • Donald Hoppert: Director of Government Relations, American Public Health Association July 29 & 31
  • Hannah Wilkerson: External Relations & Creative Manager, Children’s Environmental Health Network July 29 & 31
  • Delia Gonçalves: Vice President, External Affairs, Conference Of Minority Transportation Officials  July 29
  • Kristie Trousdale, MPH: Deputy Director, Children’s Environmental Health Network July 31
  • Almeta E Cooper: National Manager, Health Justice, Moms Clean Air Force August 12
  • Ronnie Pawelko: Senior Counsel, Political Law, Environmental Defense Fund August 12
  • Stephanie Reese: Director, Strategic Implementation and Justice, Moms Clean Air Force August 12
  • Sarah McBride: Senior Communications Specialist, Moms Clean Air Force August 12

After the session, participants will receive hands-on support to request local and state proclamations, craft their own advocacy story, deliver it to press and decision-makers effectively, and navigate the logistics of advocacy.

After the Training

Once participants complete a Child Health Champion Training, they will be awarded a certificate of completion. Additionally, they are eligible to receive customized resources and hands on, individual assistance with requesting Children’s Environmental Health Day proclamations, setting up visits with elected officials, crafting their story, and even pitching it to relevant media.

On Children’s Environmental Health Day, we’re asking all of our Child Health Champions to sign a pledge to meet with at least one decisionmaker to advocate for children’s environmental health, whether that’s local, state, or federal lawmakers, or others whose decisions impact children’s health.

CEHN will continue to host regular “Office Hours”  throughout 2025 to support Child Health Champions as they advocate for healthy environments for all kids.
