Environmental Justice: Improving IAQ and Climate Resilience in Child Care Protecting Children in AZ, CA, GA, MI, SC, and TX
The Children’s Environmental Health Network (CEHN) and Eco-Healthy Child Care® (EHCC) teams are collaborating with environmental justice community partners to enhance the health and safety of early learning child care facilities in marginalized communities. This project focuses on educating child care providers about children’s environmental health, distributing valuable resources, and fostering partnerships between national and community-level organizations to build a scalable and sustainable initiative. Our goal is to create safer, healthier environments for both children and caregivers.
Key Activities:
Recruiting 70 child care facilities (10 per region)
Providing $1,000 mini-grants per facility to support the purchase of safer toys, products, and energy-efficient upgrades
Hosting educational webinars to elevate content from EHCC resources
Collecting and evaluating indoor air quality data
Distributing portable air cleaners to child care providers
