Healthy Policy Consultant
Since October 2014, Tracy M. Kolian has worked as an independent consultant offering support and services in public and environment health. Prior to independent consulting, Tracy was interim director of the center for public health policy at the American Public Health Association. In this role, she oversaw the associations’ policy portfolio in areas such as, health reform, health disparities, environmental health and healthy communities, and the promotion of health in all sectors. Tracy was employed by APHA for just over a decade and also served as the deputy director of the center and as a senior policy analyst. She is largely responsible for the development and growth of APHA’s environmental health portfolio. Prior to APHA, Tracy was a program director at the Center for the Advancement of Health, a small nonprofit focused on the translation of health behavior research into practice. Before entering the non-profit arena, Tracy spent more than 10 years in environmental health consulting doing human health risk assessment across the US. She has a BS in Toxicology from Northeastern University, an MPH in Environmental Health from Tulane University and a certification in public relations from the University of Washington. Tracy is a certified Toast Master and a graduate of CDC’s Environmental Public Health Leadership Institute.
